Fantasy Premier League 2011/12

Nige has renewed the Shrews Boardgames fantasy league on the official Premier League game. I think those that played last year are automatically signed up again. However, new players are welcome so why not go along, register and pick your team for the new season at this site. Once you’ve picked your team, sign up for our private league using this code: 170769-152466.

Shrewsbury Boardgames 10th Anniversary on the web

Now, the Shrewsbury Boardgames Club has been going a lot longer than ten years but this month marks the tenth anniversary of me moving back to Shrewsbury and diligently recording our escapades on the web. The earliest screen dump I could get from the Wayback Machine was from May 2003 but, if you look at our archive session reports, you’ll see the first was dated 20th July 2001 when Nige, Mark K, Ben Kipp, John Williams and I played Alan Moon’s Das Amulett and Capitol (actually, John watched Capitol as he needed to leave early).

So happy anniversary to us.

Shut Up & Sit Down

There’s a new UK video podcast and blog just out called Shut Up & Sit Down. I’ve watched the first episode and found it very entertaining. A nice humorous style with sections on Citadels, Ghost Stories and Memoir ’44 plus a tour of Finchley’s finest, Leisure Games, at the start of the episode.

You can find all the details here.

Manorcon XXIX

This year’s Manorcon is again being held at Stamford Hall, University of Leicester, and runs from 2pm on Friday 15th July until 2pm on Monday 18th July 2011.

The event will have all the regular tournaments plus, possibly, one or two new ones. It features a second-hand game sale on Friday and Saturday, the Pop Quiz on Saturday evening and the Treasure Hunt on Sunday afternoon. All the details can be found on the Manorcon website.

Trickylight Polls

I’m just trying out a new function on my Trickylight site – Polls. The first one is up and runs until 24 July 2011 and it asks which game you prefer to play: Agricola or Le Havre. Thinking about it, it would be nice for people to enter comments backing up their choice but, for now at least, it’s just a straight “click your choice and press vote to submit”. Why don’t you have a go? The Trickylight homepage is here.

If you see any problems, either email me or comment below.
